History of Our School

On the 15th of October 1964 the first pupils walked through the doors of our school, 18 girls and 16 boys. At this time the school operated from prefabs located inside the current Curraheen Road Gates.

Bean Uí Ríordán ,our first principal, taught the mixed boys and girls class. One year later, the school population had grown and Mr. Con Byrnes was appointed as principal of a boys school while Bean Uí Ríordáin remained as principal of the girls school. Both schools opened their doors in 1965 to the buildings still in use today.

In 2002 a new multi purpose hall was added to the campus which was shared between the girls and boys school.

Since we first opened our doors in 1964  Scoil an Spioraid Naoimh has been a place which children feel secure and their self esteem has been fostered.
